Volunteers Make Everything Possible!

This is your PTO, and the key to a successful PTO is involvement. You are welcomed and encouraged to attend all of our meetings, events, and get involved by volunteering! The PTO website hosts a full list of all PTO-lead events as well as full year volunteer opportunities for the school year.

As committees form you will be contacted. Don’t see something you think we should be doing at LCS? Propose your idea to the PTO Board of Trustees & volunteer to lead it. Together, we will strengthen our children’s experience & sense of community.

We are looking for volunteers and 1-2 chairs to help lead these committees and events.

Thank you in advance for your support!

YEAR LONG OPPORTUNITIES

Sponsorships
Work with community partners to support LCS!  Our sponsorship program kicks off in August.  We need volunteers to help solicit local vendors (restaurants, day cares, doctors, etc.) about joining the program.  All of the marketing materials are already finalized – we just need your “virtual feet on the street” to help get the word out via calls and emails.

Message Board
Help keep our community in-the-know! Use the PTO provided letters and message boards to keep students and caregivers updated on current events. An easy job to be done anytime you want to swing by the school. This post requires staying up to date with all PTO and LCS events and putting up and taking down notices in a timely manner.

Library Volunteers

Books are a key resource for our children, but volunteers are needed to help sort and organize them. Library volunteers also help with the school book fairs. Help support our school library!

Staff Appreciation
Join the committee that helps spread cheer to the LCS faculty! Provide recognition and visible appreciation to all teachers and staff throughout the school year. This includes a welcome back to school event, monthly tokens of thanks, annual staff appreciation week including a luncheon.  The group will be responsible for planning and coordination of volunteers and donations.

5th Grade Committee
Celebrate our 5th graders through various initiatives over the course of the school year. This group will break down into sub-committees to organize and implement yearbook & photography, fundraisers, charity car wash, clap out & the end of year celebration

Passive Fundraising
Help raise funds for LCS without direct fundraising! This can all be done on your own time during or after school-hours. 1) Engage with community partners to help set-up partnerships at local restaurants & stores to offer a percentage of sales back to LCS. 2) Keep our online shopping sites updated (Shutterfly, Amazon Smile, Label Daddy). 3) Brainstorm & implement new opportunities.

School Kits
A small group that helps with the fulfillment of pre-filled supply boxes in the Fall and assisting with ordering in the Spring.

LCS Paparazzi (Photography)
Love taking and posting pictures?  This committee is responsible for capturing memories throughout the school year. Whether we are learning virtually or in person at LCS, we want to be able to creatively capture special moments with LCS.  We are also looking for point people from the photography committee to post and organize photos on our OneDrive account, as well as to help coordinate classroom photographers, so that each grade has photos to enjoy.

Spirit Committee
Share the LCS LOVE! This committee will focus on building upon the already strong LCS Community.  This committee is ideal for those looking to take a closer look at the PTO and requires minimal commitment and a flexible schedule.

LCS Social Butterfly Committee
The Social Butterfly Committee works to foster a sense of community for and facilitate focused engagement with families who are new to LCS.  Helping new families connect with one another and the broader LCS community are the fundamental goals. Help get the LCS community together by welcoming new families and coordinating various low key gatherings throughout the year. Ex. Happy Hours, Mom/Dad nights out, etc.

Philanthropy Committee
This committee will work on bringing the LCS values to our community. Identify and create opportunities for LCS to give back to the community through activities like coat drives, volunteering at the soup kitchen, food drives and assisting at the Veterans’ Hospital.

School Beautification
This is a new committee that can envision ways to help with planting, clean up and general beautification of our school.

STEAM Committee

Do you have a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, And/or Math? We need your help to explore activities and enrichments the PTO can support to build these critical skills for our students!

EVENTS

Fall Photo Sessions (September/October)

Want to capture family memories? Need holiday cards? Help us create a “new” tradition as we look to organize fun, fall photo sessions for LCS families.

Trunk or Treat (October)

Love Halloween? Help organize LCS’s Halloween festivities and execute our much loved “trick or treat” event! Let’s throw a spooktacular party with awesome costumes, candy, music, and tons of decorations created by our LCS community!

Book Swap (December)

Send students off on winter break with something great to read! This committee organizes a book drive within the school, leading up to an awesome “swap” event where each student chooses one or more “new to them” books to take home!

Glow Dance (January)

One of our most loved events! Help turn the gym into a glow-in-the-dark dance party. This committee needs all SORTS of skills as it plans, organizes and executes every aspect of the dance!

LCS BASH (May)

Our biggest and most loved event! Each year, we throw a huge 2-day themed extravaganza for students and their guests to spend time together, have a blast and build community. So many skills are needed: food, activities, crafting, decorations and more!

Bicycle Workshop (May)

Do you have a passion for bicycling and fitness? Share it with our 3-5th graders in a one-day workshop where they can learn bicycle skills and safety.

Somerset Patriots (June)

Take us out to the ballgame! This committee will plan and organize a community night at the Somerset Patriots stadium!
