Volunteer Opportunities School Year 2019-2020

  • A small group that helps the ordering and fulfillment process for pre-filled supply kits for each grade. Time commitment is spring for orders and fall for fulfillment.
  • Lend a helping hand and mentor a new incoming LCS family! PTO VPs of Membership will help you reach out and connect with a new family looking for support.
  • Help keep our community in-the-know! Use the PTO provided letters and message boards to keep students and caregivers updated on current events. An easy job to be done at drop-off, pick-up or anytime you want to swing by the school. This post requires staying up to date with all PTO and LCS events and putting up and taking down notices in a timely manner.
  • Join the club that records your child's years at LCS. Each year the 5th grade receives a special yearbook to commigrate their time at LCS. This volunteer led committee is for those who love photography, organization, record keeping and putting together a special memory for the students to keep and enjoy. This is an important commitment that seeks a dedicated chair(s) and team that is committed but can work on their own time throughout the year.
  • Working with the VP of Membership, this committee will continue to foster a PTO presence at school and build a deeper connection with our faculty and staff. Membership Committee will meet a few times a year to plan Teacher Appreciation events, community outreach projects (ex., Coat Drive), and organize our second annual Book Swap. Join this team and help us build on our community involvement and outreach!
  • Love taking pictures and want INSIDER ACCESS to school events? This committee is responsible for capturing all school events: school-wide, grade-level and classroom specific events. We are also looking for a grade level point person to help coordinate the classroom photographers and ensure that each class is represented fairly.
  • Help raise funds for LCS without direct fundraising! There are 3 areas in this committee which can all be done on your own time during or after school-hours. First, engage with community partners to help set-up partnerships at local restaurants & stores to offer a percentage of sales back to LCS. Second, organize the rewarding Box-Tops program for the kids to be collected at school. And finally keep our online shopping sites updated and suggest new opportunities.
  • Library Volunteers assist the LCS librarian, Mr. Mullarkey, with a variety of tasks that involve, but are not limited to, helping at the Book Fair, library tasks and organization. Volunteers can sign up for reoccurring time slots during school hours. This team is perfect for those who want to be involved during the day and love books!
  • This committee helps keep the guided reading book room organized so that teachers can quickly and easily access books for their reading groups. This team is perfect for individuals who love books and comes with the flexibility to make your own schedule during school hours over the course of the year.

Mark your calendars for this year’s exciting events!
