A National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. We are looking forward to another successful year at LCS. This year, I am looking to start a committee to increase communication between the parents and school (Parent Advisory Council).

The goal of this committee is to collect parent questions and bring comments and questions from the community to the administration and report information back to the parents.

I am seeking one representative per grade level. Below, please find a full explanation of roles and responsibilities of a PAC representative. Also listed are the anticipated dates and times for this school year’s meetings.

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is comprised of one parent representative from each grade level (K-5) as well as a PTO liaison. They meet with the Principal and other staff (as needed) on a monthly basis during the school year.

Members will work together to:

  • Seek questions from grade level parents to be shared with the principal prior to a meeting in order to set an agenda.

○      Provide the Principal with feedback and insight from the parent’s perspective on school process, policies and initiatives to  ensure that the needs of parents and their families are considered as decisions are made in the school.

○      Bring to the Principal’s attention existing and emerging issues expressed by parents at the school.

  • Serve as an advisory, not a decision-making body, that makes recommendations, encourages brainstorming and provides opportunities for parent involvement on committees and task forces.
  • Facilitate communication between and among the school administration and the school community and serve as a forum for sharing innovations and best practices from different resources.

Reminder About Parking

Please note that parking is problematic at LCS as we do not have enough parking to accommodate both teachers and parents.  Please consider walking or carpooling to large events.  For such events as Open House, Back to School Night and Parent Teacher Conferences, we have been granted permission by our neighbors, the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, to utilize their back parking lot.  Please do not park in any of the spots when you first enter their parking lot even if they are open.  The church needs those spaces for their pre-school, daycare and church programs.  Pull around to the back of the church building and park anywhere past their playground.  Another parking option is to park on Canterbury Road.  Please help us demonstrate the type of character we pride ourselves on here at LCS.
