LCS Mission Statement
Our school’s mission is to challenge the children, staff and families to continue their quest for excellence in education. It is the focus of our school, and ultimately our district, to pursue “a superior education that results in academic excellence, responsible behavior, good citizenship and fosters social-emotional development so that ultimately each student will be able to maximize his/her potential and become a contributing member of society.” We provide that superior education while meeting individual needs, differences and similarities of Liberty Corner children. The achievement of such an ambitious goal cannot be realized without the considerable support of the entire school community. Family involvement is critical, as parents become partners in the education of their children.
The dedication, perseverance, initiative and commitment of all members within the school community establish the Liberty Corner “Caring Community.” The foundation of a strong home/school partnership relies upon consistent communication and proactive relationships that ultimately support our high academic and moral standards.
A comprehensive Character Education program nurtures and fosters exemplary attributes of good character with high expectations of behavior and attitude. The student body is engaged throughout the school year in service learning projects, which emphasize the importance of being a contributor to society. Such projects have included donating supplies to the Seeing Eye, collecting materials and resources for schools in Appalachia and Newark, contributing to local fire and rescue squads, supporting the Wellness Community for the purpose of aiding families battling cancer and the collecting of winter outerwear for the Market Street Mission in Morristown. Our students clearly understand the need to look beyond their immediate environment to discover how they can serve those in need. As a result of our efforts in the Character Education realm, we have been recognized by state as a New Jersey School of Character and by Character.org as a National School of Character. Many of our initiatives have also been acknowledged nationally as exemplary Best Practices and Promising Practices and models for others to replicate.
The following quote by L. J. Chamberlin highlights our commitment to establish a warm and welcoming climate at LCS.
“There is a subtle spirit that exists in a school, both in the minds of the teachers and students and in every act, which may never be exactly described or analyzed, but which even the most inexperienced observer recognizes when he enters a school or classroom.”
Congratulations to Liberty Corner School on being named a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by the U. S. Department of Education. See the following links for details:
