BOOK COMMITTEE (Book Room, Celebration Books, Library Volunteers) (Yearlong)

  • The LCS Book Room contains guided reading books for all our students. Volunteers are needed to sort inventory and maintain the Book Room during the school year.
  • Celebrate an event in a fun and educational way by donating a book to the LCS library. This is a perfect way to recognize any special occasions such as your child’s birthday, a new sibling, or holidays.
  • Library Volunteers assist the LCS librarian, Mr. Mullarchy. Duties include: checking books in, checking books out and shelving them.  Schedule is set on a monthly basis, but is very flexible.

LCS Special Events (Family Paint Night and Stories and Snuggles)

Help coordinate and run school-wide assemblies and/or family events that complement LCS’s educational programs.

A Class Parent Representative (CPR) is needed at each grade level.  The primary purpose of a CPR is to act as a liaison between teachers, homeroom parents, parents (just for their grade), administrators and the PTO.   The CPR aids in the coordination of various grade/school activities and acts as a key communicator.

This is a small committee that works with the LCS Main Office Staff to assist with Kindergarten Registration (February) and Kindergarten Screening (May, 2-day event).  Provide refreshments for the May screening.

PIZZA NIGHT (September)

This committee organizes an annual school-year social kickoff event usually held on a Friday in September from 5pm-7pm.  While not a fundraising event, the event is self-funded.  Tasks are usually divided by the chairs with one focusing on flyers, volunteer scheduling and tracking orders while the other contacts vendors for donations and focuses on other logistics and coordination.  The Fifth grade celebration usually does a fundraising event at this function.




This is a whole school single day event held in May.  A team of volunteers work with the PE teachers to create a fun outside day for the students who attend in grade specific time slots.  The children rotate between multiple game stations including stations with events such as giant blow up slides, pie eating contests, water balloons, and a dunk tank.

This team is responsible for compiling and publishing the LCS 2016-2017 Directory.




This committee works closely with the music teacher, Mrs. Beadle.




A special Day for your children in grades K-3 to invite their grandparents, or someone special, to a morning filled with memories at the school.

This one person committee keeps the two outdoor LCS Message Billboards up to date with current school and LCS PTO events.

It’s a fun way to be creative!  This committee decorates the School Bulletin Boards throughout the school (inside and outside) and the showcase whenever needed.

A special appreciation luncheon is given for the teachers and staff.  Co-Chairs plan, organize and facilitate the event.  Volunteers are needed to prepare or provide requested food, desserts and beverages as well as set up and clean up on the day of the event.  Volunteers can help with generating ideas for other special treats.




Booooooo!  Bring your goblins and Fairies out for an early evening of Trick or Treating.  This is a 2 hour school wide community event held just prior to Halloween.  Children will parade around the school accompanied by their parents and go trick or treating along the way as they visit the decorated car trunks of LCS families in the school parking lot.




This is a Fifth Grade specific committee that coordinates, plans and creates a yearbook for the graduating Fifth Grade class.  The planning begins in the Fall to lock in the best prices for the yearbooks.  The committee meets throughout the year to add pictures and information to the yearbook.

This small committee meets in the late Spring to add all of the Kindergarten and new LCS students’ handprints to the Hallway Handprint gallery.

This committee plans a ladies night out for LCS moms to get together and get to know one another.

This is a Fifth Grade specific committee that coordinates, plans and hosts a June party for the graduating Fifth Grade Class.  The planning begins in the Fall in order to coordinate a few events to raise money for the party.  Recently the event has taken place at Harry Dunham Park and includes a DJ, games, pizza and treats.




Help turn Liberty Corner’s library into a full-fledged book store!  Co-Chairs organize all aspects of the Book Fair.  In Addition, volunteers are needed to help set up, assist students with their “wish lists” during their preview times, assist shoppers locate items and during checkout process, and help break down the fair at its conclusion.

Collect those Box Tops!  This is a year-round committee that is responsible for the collection, counting and submission of Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s Soup Labels.  The committee organizes pizza party for the winning grade level at the end of the school year.




The Giving Tree gives families a chance to donate items directly to their child’s classroom.  At Back to School Night, parents have the opportunity to purchase leaves from a tree that correspond to items requested by their child’s teacher.  The Co-Chairs coordinate the teacher wish lists and set up the display.

This committee organizes a two hour Saturday event at a bowling alley for LCS Moms and their sons.  It is usually scheduled for a Saturday in March.  The LCS Moms and their sons bowl together and enjoy pizza, drinks and treats.

This committee plans a special evening for the girls of LCS and the special man in their life (dad, grandpa, uncle, big brother, etc).  This event is almost always sold out with over 80% of the girls at the school attending.  The event is held on a Friday night around Valentine’s Day at the school with refreshments, DJ, photographers and crafts.

PENNY WARS (February)

Co-Chairpersons:  Mike and Lisa Stanzione

Are you ready for a Penny War? This week-long competition between grades pits classes in a head-to-head competition to see who can collect the most points.  The object is to deposit pennies in their own jars for positive points and all other coins in their competitors’ jars for negative points.  Volunteers tally the money daily and give updates to the students.  The winning class gets a special treat!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES (June and September)

This is a 1-2 person committee that runs from April to the following September and is responsible for the sale and distribution of Staples school supply kits to LCS students.  Kits are ordered at the end of the school year and distribution occurs just prior to Meet the Teacher day in September.

SPIRIT WEAR (Yearlong)

Show off your school spirit with LCS clothing and accessories.  Co-Chairs design and create sale items such as: shirts, hats, bags, water bottles, magnets, etc.  Volunteers are needed at every event to promote and sell the items.

This is an ongoing full year committee whose responsibilities include photographing all school events including both school wide events and classroom specific events.  Photographs are formatted and edited by members and then provided to the chair via flash drive to be loaded to the PTO website by the chair.

This committee consists of 4 members who research and coordinate author visits for the students during March.  The committee coordinates scheduling and acts as a liaison for the visits.  This is usually accompanied with author book sales of autographed books.
